Mileage is no indicator of use, unfortunately. Those 22,500 miles a year could quite easily be motorway miles, whereas a really low miler could be town miles or short start/stop journeys.
As long as there is a service history, the vehicle would be fine. You can get a Mercedes Benz Driveline Warranty for about £1182.50 per year with an excess of £250 which would cover the engine and drivetrain, providing the vehicle has been serviced properly, and properly receipted. Worth a thought.
To be honest, you would be buying a quality car for a mere pittance compared to what you would have paid some seven years ago. When you buy something of this age and use, you have to expect something to go wrong during ownership. That is why for piece of mind motoring people buy brand spanking new, leaving the rest of us to find those little gems.
There is always a gamble buying second hand, but that is a risk we must take if we want something a little bit special without incurring that special cost.
My advice is to take the plunge. While you could end up buying a donkey, you might end up buying a pedigree which you will cherish.
