In a pit of rust and whats left of a mini.

Rover Mini 35
Hello!

So the CLK/Mum had a fight with a pillar in waitrose car park, it is curiously tight turn to be fair, I struggle to get the mini round there (classic).

Any tips to get this fixed?

My Plan was, Sand - Fill - Sand - Filler primer - Sand - Primer - Sand - Primer and send it off to paint. (I won't paint metallic on such an obvious place)

Many Thanks

I would be tempted to try one of those mobile repairers on that to be honest.

I don't have great stories from using Chipsaway but Shine! We're very good.

But I am not too sure how the lacquer would last if applied and dried with a heat lamp in the current weather.

It is do-able by a SMART mobile repair guy, this would be a cheaper option than a body shop who will want to paint the whole wing and half the door to get a paint match ;)

You will struggle to get a nice finish from a smart repair guy in this weather and they wouldn't have a good line to lacquer to. Your best bet is a bodyshop who will pin the main area then only having to use minimal filler will finish the repair, prime and paint.
Any good bodyshop would never need to blend a panel for that repair

id say bodyshop too, you will get a longer lasting better looking finish... all depends on what condition the rest of the car is in

Cheap fixes are a false economy.....I have been there in the past to my longer term cost.

Chipsaway etc would struggle with that imo, take it to local bodyshop and get some quotes.

Luckily there is a body repair shop at the bottom of my road, that specialises in High End crash repair.

I can't believe that this repair would be much more than £500. Obviously the car atm is not worth £800. But its more sentimental value.

Noah, since you're only 16...how do you know what it's like to drive your Mini in that carpark? Just curious.

I forgot to put the 'd changing it to I'd, I have driven the mini on a closed course in Romford, called the car drome? don't know if you know it, so I know what the turning circles like, because its lowered and on wider wheels its not great.
