TMC Update

:) Roxio

We will have to start looking into it again.

Please feel free to post me your music and I will endeavour to put my money where my mouth is :D

We ought to dig out the old thread :)

Good luck,
John

Tell you what I'll do just that. I'll copy the DVD and send it to you. If you can see more songs then its my system. If you can't - then its a limitation we've hit.

Foolproof. Will let you know when I've got it copied.

No probs,
I'll write it, then test it in our COMAND

I have about 1,000 mp3 files on my DVD, in a nested structure. I've found that nested folders *do* work, albeit not in a very useful way.

e.g. I have, on the DVD itself:

artist1/album1/*.mp3
artist1/album2/*.mp3
artist2/album3/*.mp3
artist3/album4/*.mp3
artist3/album5/*.mp3

etc, etc. Unfortunately, COMAND ignores folders that contain only other folders, so COMAND presents me with only:

album1
album2
album3
album4
album5

with the upper-level artist* folder structure lost. However, all 996 files are still accessible. I need to put the artist name in the album title to have it visible in COMAND.

I also put the album year in the title, so that COMAND sorts the list chronologically.

I'm using a Linux system to write the DVD, using the growisofs utility, onto a Verbatim DVD+RW disc.

I use a burn option that "instructs the logical unit to explicitly burn [otherwise optional] lead-out.", which claims to "Provide maximum media compatibility with DVD-ROM/-Video."

If your burning software has this option, you might want to give it a try.

Hi Calum
I 'think' I understand what your saying

If I do understand and that is not very likely, the folder titled artist1 is ignored by the COMAND and it only shows the next folder in the tree???

Mercedes-Benz state only use one folder structure and this is what I find works. Why write something that clearly is causing problems? :)

My DVD is only for the car, so it is wrote in a way that COMAND accepts. Keep it simple is an adage that has stood me in very good stead.

I respect your point about you can write a folder within a folder and in part it does sort of work, but I wonder what COMAND thinks.

Regards,
John

SORTED!!

Thanks for this. The problem was that I had folders and subfolders. Now I've just got one folder level it works a treat. Many thanks!

New Menu In Comand Navigation.....curvamatic

Any body help me please....what is (does curvamatic) do ?.
I had the navigation reader in the boot replaced because sometimes I would get an error (The disk would not load).
The technician told me that he had uploaded (flashed) the comand uinit with the latest software.........I have the latest Version 5 TMC embeded DVD disk.

One week later (yesterday) I was playing around with the navigation menues to find that I have a new Menu (CURVAMATIC) option..1 on option..2 on at night option..3 Off.

I have searched the net with no results.
The only guess I have is that next navigation DVD to be released will have the FIXED POLICE SPEED CAMERA locations to warn you.

This is only a guess OR IT MAY BE THAT (curvamatic) birds eye view ?.

I will post a picture of the comand showing the curvamatic menu if they is any doubt .

Good morning Les,
What an interesting question. I have no idea, but you have my attention.

You say you go into the navigation mode??
Then there is a new menu.

When 'She that must be obeyed gets back from visiting 'He that must be obeyed' :o (It is Sunday) I will have her see if we have this new option. Our vehicle has not been 'flashed' ;) for a while so we might not have it. Good spotting though.

John

3) Occasionally, the system reports it cannot find the DVD, and it needs a reboot to fix.

Philip

Sorry to have to tell you this, but mine did the same thing, it was down to the DVD unit in the boot, now replaced under warranty.

Paul.

Curvematic

Sorry but spelt it wrong.....the correct spelling is curvematic.

Yes same here Navigation DVD drive replaced in boot under warantry.
Also the Firmware on the head unit reprogramed.

Search for curvematic on here and also other MB forums.....there are answers to what it is......but no one is 100% sure.

Please let me know to what your gues is ?.

Les Chesterfield.

Curvematic is presumably what was called curvetronic in former Comand versions (from memory).

The only function it can be (I would think) is the activation of the active headlights to track into corners based on data from the navigation DVD, rather than the exisiting system (of steering wheel angle, speed sensor and yaw sensor).

This technology has been on the cards for some time, but is not yet in production on any vehicle. I first heard about it in about 1999.

I have always assumed that it is "in the pipeline" (or, perhaps "just round the corner" - Boom Boom!) because of its presence in the Comand system menus (which, of course, are not meant to be seen by the public).

Philip

Interesting. If you search for curvetronic on google.com - you get a document deep in the global training Daimler Chrsyerl website, which talks about the new CL class (model 216) - mentioning curvetronic

See: -

http://global-training.daimlerchrys...ings/Distance-Learning/Akubis/PECW-HA004.html

And, also what looks like a patent or a trademark by DC for curvetronic and in the same document one for curvematic

http://www.patentstyret.no/upload/F...ketidende/2004/varemerketidende-nr04-2004.pdf

Cheers

Richard
