Today im mainly making a ......

Changed the design a bit . It's now will hold 4.5 gallons of water for the cooling system and 2.5 gallons of methanol for the water injection . Not going to put the tails for the pipes in until I've had it welded . Next job is to true all the joints and then to the welders :)

Looks really good Marc, will be an interesting mix with KC and Meth.
Are you going to tune for Meth or just use for reducing intake and cylinder temps.

Aquamist have a really nice setup and Richard offers some really useful local support when ironing out setup issues.

Hi Paul

Been looking at the devils own progressive kit , but not made my mind up . Have had aqua mist on a early 930 turbo , was quite a basic set up but with a emerald ecu I added 85 bhp with out raising boost . Not sure what was the result of the meth kit as I did the efi conversion at the same time . One thing I have found out from past modding is the importance of low and consistent intake temps . On the 3.3 air cooled motor every degree of timing advance was worth about 10-15hp . Not sure what it will be worth on our motors but we shall see .
Marc

I don't have the actual data with me but from memory it was

3.5 deg timing at >35 deg C IAT
6.3 deg timing at >45 deg C IAT
9.6 deg timing at >65 deg C IAT

I can keep below 50 deg C IAT with ice even on a sustained run and 45 deg C IAT on a 1/4 mile if the ambient temps are below 18 deg C. You should be able to keep below the 45 deg C with your setup not sure about the 35 deg C level.

From discussion I have had with some of the guys running meth in the US the 55K will yield a similar result with approx 10hp per deg of timing.

Appologies for the slight hijack but it's relevant and along these lines...

Why can you not upgrade the inter cooler on the engine?

Are the aftermarket/upgraded charge coolers all bar and plate and designs or has anyone played about with Laminova cores? I've just a bought a bunch of Laminova cores to develop something for one of my customers (not an MB) and while they're far from cheap they offer several advantages... based on the last time i did something with 'em (owner developed, i just did the the welding) we're expecting a reduction in charge temp, less pressure drop across the cooler and better throttle response as a whole bunch of pipework can be binned. Can read more about 'em here... http://97.74.32.155/files/intercool.pdf

I have seen them and look very good , maybe be a good replacement for the stock heat exchanger under the charger .

The tank is now welded and ready for collection , the cores for the killer chiller type cooler should be with me Tuesday.
