Tool to import speedcams in COMAND

Perhaps it's only an option on later NTG4.5 or something....
Teflonso - have you dried modifying the data fields in the GPX file too?

My next play is to stretch out the warning distances as 9seconds for a motorway camera van with a half mile view isn't enough.
From memory its about 9secs standard, so presume you could run the file through MS Word and selectively change that 'phrase' to hold a longer number?

Steve
No, I've not even had chance yet to upload the very latest camera files from PGPSW. But I'm on my first long motorway journey tommorrow so I'll se if my exisitng converts give me enough indication.

Rather than mod the combined GPS file I might find it easier to download all the individual files (mobile 30, Mobile 70, etc). do a global search and replace the warning in all of the higher speed files, then combine it into a single file and install it in the car.

.

Does anyone know if I need to have a specific spec memory card or will any one work?
Is there is min or max size that I need?

Thanks

I tried the app today with a SCDB file and worked perfectly.
The app is really good and the process on the website is clear and very easy to read.

THANKS :)

speed camera on 63 plate e class

You can visit the website here:

Important to know:
- During testing I've hit a hard limit of 30.000 POI items.
- I didn't find a way to play a sound when approaching a POI, while this is possible in other navigation systems (TomTom, Garmin etc).

Thanks in advance, and enjoy the tool :)

After trying to get some GPX files into my car and failing..... I saw this thread. I downloaded all the speed files in google earth kml format from GPS data team

Used the above tool from Jack, saved them all onto SD card, plugged in and hey presto, it works I have loads of cameras popping up.

This conversion tool rocks....

thanks so much for doing this program..

I've been looking at this but SCDB files are now in kmz format and get rejected by Jack's conversion program. Anyone know where I can source the kml files?

You need to rename the file extension to .zip once you have done that open it up and you will find the kml file inside the zip file

Thanks Sooty et al, worked for me. I have just converted the SCDB 'google earths' .kmz (.kml) into a .gpx via Jack's tool and loaded into my 4 months old E class. All seems to be working fine.

Cheers

Yes it works really well especially with the audible alert, I played around with mine and set it to 10 sec otherwise it was going off too often.

Was a but gutted when I switched to Mac as the application only works with Windows , in the end I had to install Windows as I missed this application too much lol

Quick Q If you don't mind; how often do you download and new database file? Secondly, is it actually possible to gauge how often is about right, given your experience?

Cheers

I update mine about every 1 - 2 months.
I guess it depends where you drive and things.
For example I tend to drive the same roads over and over again as I do the same route every week, if I was going somewhere I have never been before then I would update it.

If you do a lot of driving on different and new roads then I would update it every week or so I guess.

Hi,

I tried the tool by converting .kml files from POIPLAZA and it works fine.
This tool is helpful.

But how can I change the POI icon and use another that is not in the list ?
For example if I want All french Mc Donalds' on the GPS I would like to have the red and yellow Mc Donalds sign on my Comand.

how can this be done ?

I don't think it can be done. When you look at the file it shows IconID=x and I think that refers to the set of standard icons in the COMAND system. It is frustrating that you cannot change the icon as it renders the data useless. You just see standard icon on screen with no name. Ok you can get a list of personal POIs on the screen but it's in alphabetical order. It may well be useful for getting audible warnings for speed cameras but for any other POIs it's useless. Cannot even use nearest POIs to current position with the personal ones.
