Top 3 cars you love to burn off

M3 wouldn't have a chance against an RS6, dude you sure it wasn't an S6 or Rs4 you came across? The M3 man would have to get his gear changes just right to be slightly behind the RS6, all the RS6 needs to do is get a half decent start then once foot's flat leave it there, it does sub 13 quarter mile as standard and has prodigious grip, nice car but bit big(Sure the CL drivers will laugh at that comment!).

I know my cars, it was a RS6. Also, if you look at the figures (for what they are worth) you will see little difference - 0-100 the RS6 is about 1/2 a second quicker (most would be from initial 4wd traction), and the only 30-70 time I could find for the RS6 was 4.6 secs (vs 3.9 for the M3). Also, gear changes weren't much of a problem - SMG gearboxes are great for making quick changes - not many manual drivers or auto gearboxes can change gear in 80ms....
I also probably should have mentioned that this wasn't from a standing start, therefore the off the line traction advantage of the RS6 was lost, and the greater weight was counting against it, and it also included 'a corner' which could have had something to do with it (and is why I found myself a bit sideways at one point!). Sense and traffic knocked it on the head by about 90, so no idea which was quicker at the top end.

Don't get me wrong - I like the RS6 - think they're great cars, and have considered one myself, but on this day, in this instance, my M3 was faster.

I've been a passenger in a CL65 being driven hard , and i can honestly say that in the real world there is nothing else on the road that can touch it ...

Scared me a bit actually ....... :o

Bumped into a guy I know from another forum with a tuned up SL65 on the M4 last week - he was in front of me doing about 80, and had been driving pretty quickly so I knew he was going to nail it when the traffic cleared, so thought I'd boot mine to see how much faster he was.......he floored it, I floored it - I burst into laughter!! Was just like a scene out of Knight Rider when they speed up the film and you see the car accelerate away from you into a dot in the distance!!! Have NEVER seen a car move that fast....

Ahh, but did he catch you eventually? :D :D

Just think of all the petrol he burnt and then all those demonstrators that protest about thirsty 4 x 4's

I think if you look into the physics of that situation it was in fact the earth spinning away from the SL65 and you with it, the car wasn't actually moving that quick at all relative to the rest of the universe ;)

Think he lapped me a couple of times!! Definately agree about the green issue - join me in trying to get these pesky AMG machines banned at www.ihatetheseAMGthingscostheyretooquickandIcantkeepup.com - all based on sound environmental reasoning (just like the anti-4x4 movement!!! ) :p

Thanks mate - makes me feel much better. Do you reckon I would have had a better chance closer to the equator then?? :D

Unlikely. Maybe you'd have more luck on a planet with more mass or less air density? :)

Good plan - next club meet to be held on Jupiter - bring your own oxygen...

Ahh, didn't realise it was rolling start that's cool can quite see how you beat the RS6 then. I'm jealous of people getting taken for spin in CL65 I would love to go in one. Even though I like good ahndlgin cars so go for smaller I would have to take obsidian black Cl65 over SL65, it looks the absolute business!

I might have argued that one a bit harder a few months ago but having got a good look at a CL vs AMG SL the only thing I can say now is you can take the roof off the SL  My god whats happening to me ??? I found myself questioning whether I really needed to take my hardtop off for a spring thrashing today as well

Some days I think my car is quite quick compared to the average car on the road.

Others, when I get caught in the wrong gear by a Passat TDi or similar and I think I am wrong!!

So these days I rarely gun it away from the lights expecting to win. Apart from two weeks ago when I needed to turn into the Bull Ring car park from the right hand lane a few yards back :D :D ASR off, passenger instructed to hang on moment :D

Far more fun I think IS the 1.1 Nova/Corsa mentality.

Scaled up BHP wise, I occassionaly enjoy provoking a car in a different league to show me what it's got. I tried to explain this regards bikes in another thread, just before Supercharger mysteriously stopped working once, but got flamed.

The thing is, how many potent cars do you see that generally just potter around? I rarely see a M3, WRX Sti, Porsche etc and think yeah, he's def. giving it it's all.

I would rather provoke a RX8 in showing me what his flat out in 1st is like and getting whoppped away from the lights than beat a slower car away :o

I just hope these other drivers realise I know I had no chance of winning, just using them!!

I hate being followed closely by cars and I usually either slow down and let them by or I burn them off... Its the later especially if the car is one of the following,

Saxo VTS

BMW 3 series (done out to look like an M3 but isn't)

Vauxhall Vectra's

None - not even M3's or Porsche's seem to take an interest that I have come across. :(

That's because the force is with you Maff! :p And that big F£$% Off engine probably helps too

Anyone got any david and goliath stories??? I was at the traffic lights last year next to a guy in an old shape porsche turbo, it had the widest FAT **** arches i had seen for some time and some great wheels i have to admit, he also had a sexy beast of a girl sitting next to him!! Thats why it felt so good, after I had burnt his frog face and left him wheel spinning at the lights. Its a good thing it was a two into one lane ahead... did I mention I hate T05s%&s that can afford such beautiful cars and cant drive to save their **** :bannana:

CL 55 AMG is a real beast and I cannot imagine too many cars wanting to challenge one (especially now that Maff's has been deretrcited somewhere near 200MPH now it can take on just about anything as not limited to 155MPH and 0-60MPH is around 4.5 sec :) )

From experience I have found that Ferrairs are always up for a blast from of the lights but will def get burnt by the CL55 beast.

I have found Porche Boxster drivers to be the worse and always cuting up lanes - I burnt 2 of them in a C55 and know what u mean abot it feeling good especially when they are with a woman in the passengers seat that they are trying to impress. My other half alwasy has a fit/throws a rage when I sometimes act immature and "race" others car once in a while (she once slapped me when I was in the CL600 for driving like a moran with Porche and yes everyoen saw it at the lights... :o ) but I did burn the Porche. Now I only have a blast when alone... ;)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one Brian - when I had the C55 I used every opportunity to get out of the house "unoticed" as she insisted that she tagged along... I don't understand - every car that I have raced/chased has always had a female sitting in the passenger seat and normally they just smile but I suppose its different if ur married and ur other half really cares for u and loves u :)

It was a good hard slap I got as well :o But she did feel relly bad afterwards and "obeyed" everything I said for a good few days afterwards ;)

Trust me I looked like a right idot getting slapped if front of everyone at the lights and the CL used to get enough unwanted attention as it was without the "drama..." :o

Well I've never been married but I'm sure that in my domain (as in: the driving seat) a lady must know her place!!!

I believe Ice Cube said it best when his girlfriend tried changing the stereo during a rendition of his favourite NWA track:
" $&%h you better watch yourself!! I will slap that m%*&%* f%^&%ng make-up straight of your %^t$£ a^s face. If you touch my m£%^&* f*&^$ng stereo again I will f$%^i£% kill you h*e "

Of course im not suggesting any of you boys actually put this into practice :D
NOTE: if you do tho, try and record it on your video phone i think it could be a learning experience! :p
