Top Gear Last Night

...The kind of people that insist on matching Louis Vuitton luggage, when actually Samsonite does a better job and cost a fraction of the price.

Not quite the point of luxury baggage.
If you ever see LV monogrammed luggage on an Airport carousel, it's almost certainly fake. Prefer Goyard meself.

SL65 is already proving a hit at the Nordschleife, Clarkson has missed the point of this car.

Serious question then...What is the point considering the other vehicles available.

SL63 AMG, SLR, CLK Black etc.

It's not really a track car is it?

I'm not wholly sure where it's aimed. (I mean that in a way that Porsche produce a GT2 or GT£ firmly aimed at tracks - bu the Black SL has an auto box and air con etc...)

I think the customer is a track-driver 'lite', ie
Rich boys who attend every F1 race, want the SL 'Pace Car' image, the toys and relative comfort, but they will likely only track it once or twice a year plus the odd blast down to Le Mans.

Everyone knows that you'd choose something else if you were serious about lowering your BTG.

Be very careful downloading TOP GEAR episodes from a source other than one known to be clean and malware free..
I have it on good authority a forum member tried to do exactly this this a week or so ago and picked up a very nasty bug.

If in any doubt - use the BBC iPlayer

Was it swine flu ?

He's a footballer?!! Lol, thought he played for ****nal and they are just a bunch of ballet dancers.......:D

Should have stayed at Southampton....wish someone would...

Walked out of Browns on Saturday around from Bond Street and a black one was parked outside on Swiss plates... in front was a Gallardo Ragtop and up the road a 599 GTB in black.... too much money in one street!!!!

MIssed the first part of the show. I was out so set it to record on Sky +. Came back later and it had only started recording at the 'news' section. Were the schedules messed up by the tennis or something?

Exactly the same here, was so ****** off, lol.

Much quicker than an SL63 and the CLK black (i see the CLK as a diet version of this car). SLR is actually a more refined, comfortable GT car than this.

I completely agree, you could drive it to the Nurburgring with your climate controlled environment and navigation and then hammer it around with gusto.

Like someone above said, Jeremy Clarkson completely missed the point of this (just for a change )

So .....

Do we think Ken Block will thrash his car round the Top Gear track ?

I thought James May's piece was superb. Dare I say it but May is appearing a bit Fry-esque in his witty deliveries.

I wouldn't call the SLR refined. Completely the opposite in fact and for that is the appeal

I have to disagree, i think you could easily cruise down the south of France in it and feel no ill effects. The hard ride (track focus) of the SL black would make it an uncomfortable journey

As for May, i find him witty when he speaks off the cuff but awful when scripted.

Yes I agree, you could drive some distance in it, but NVH levels are quite high when compared to other uber Mercs.
