I Have a 1990 300 CE coupe and the total closure relay has stopped working - ie you can't close all the windows and sunroof from the key. Does anyone know where the relay is situated ?
Cheers
Chris

On the saloon it is under the rear seat, and i'm fairly certain it will be on the coupe...just not 100%...

It is a black relay 6" by 4" by 1" part numbered something like 124 820 1024 something like that...

Do you mean that all central locking has stopped, including the fuel filler flap?

Nope, by closure he is talking about the windows and sunroof closing automatically when he locks the car...

do other mercs have this feature?

All models 1997+ with the updated EIS have this as standard, if you hold the button down and the key can "see" the IR sensor on the door handle.

No, the locking still works OK, but the total closure system closes all the windows & sunroof when you hold the key in the closed position in the drivers door. It also used to open all the windows when you opened it holding the key the other way (usefull in the summer). But it no longer does either. I am wondering if it is a fuse or the relay. I will look under the rear seat & see if I can see a relay as V12 suggests.

To find out if your car has this feature - just open one window and lock the car with the key in the doorlock - but hold the key in the direction to close and hold it there. If you have the total closure system it will lock the doors and close the window. It will also open all the windows when you unlock it by holding the key again.
