I'm addicted to "police, camera, action" type TV (especially when the rozzers set their police dogs on a fleeing car thief!!) and it’s become quite obvious that Tracker systems are the ultimate in car security.

The police don’t have to engage in a dangerous chase, and can even monitor a stolen car once its been found in a lock up to try to catch the gang.

So why are they still so expensive and seem only worth it if you have a car of significant value or one you would rather see again over the insurance payout.

So how much do you actually save on your insurance and has anyone got any success stories.

the only one I ever heard was a guy waking up to find his Escort Cosworth missing and his tracker sitting on his door step!!

may be should and done a search before posting! Sorry guys

Mind you I've just read the old threads and was hoping that mine would take a more political tack.

The last tracker thread was just and extended "they're great"..."no they're not"..."yes they are" etc etc etc.

The greatest percentage of car theft is targeted towards everyday cars and stolen by everyday scum so surely trackers in cheaper cars would be a positive thing.

Not when the tracker and running it costs more than the car is worth in the first place:crazy:

May be I'll just get on with some work and go out at lunchtime with a big stick and beat up the first car theif I come across rather than ranting on to everyone on this forum.

Better still I could move to South Africa where its perfectly legal to burn car jackers up in the street with flame throwers!!

By cheaper cars I mean under £25k!!, fitted with lower cost trackers and under an initiative funded by the government/MOT/insurance companies.

Damn, there I go again, let me find that stick!!!

I'd do it if I caught someone stealing my car:devil:
Better still, take them down my shed and crush their hands (or something else) in my vice.:D

I'd like a car alarm like 007's white lotus Esprit. As a child that really upset me. Not for the guy who just had his body ripped apart by the explosive device but for that sexy "waterproof" Lotus being blown up.

Oh dear, I still have the same attitude as a 7 year old boy!!!!

You'll end up in the same mess as me then BUT mine was initially self defence...
