Tracking needs done

I took my car to Kwik fit today in anniesland. They have the latest hunter machine. Steven my indie went downto train them how to do Mercs especially where camber bolts have been fitted. My brother watched them do my eclass and the results are brill. Mconechys in thornliebank admittedly don't like doing Mercs with camber bolts.
Holbay, take it to Kwik fit in anniesland but phone my Indy first 0141 9514447. He will tell them you're coming and they will do a good job.

George might not have bolts fitted ...

I'd worry about somewhere that needs an Indy to give a heads-up first.

Any idea what the "weighting" is?

Apparently, it is to replicate the car under the load of a driver. What weight that driver is is anybody's guess.

I think it's total ******** as you wlll often have passengers and luggage in the car. Would they expect you to have the tracking redone each time the internal weight alters ??

You wouldn't need to as the weighting is just an arbitrary figure to give the correct spec for that weight.

Driver, full tank of fuel, spare wheel.

Well I thought as much and told them I would sit in the car with my wife and 2 children as we were there at the time. They just said its not the same thing...so they need to weight it to replicate the 4 of us but the actual weight of 4 of us isnt the same thing :dk:

Stephen. It was just to make sure that he was happy with what they were doing with Mercs he sent to them. I think it makes sense.

To be honest with the atrocious conditions the roads are in getting it spot on is not a massive priority. My tyre fitter charges £25 for the tracking and my wife averages 1 curb every 2 months so is it worth £30 a corner every 2 months?

I would much prefer to go somewhere that does gets it more or less as it should for £25 each time than spend 4 times the price for perfection that will last a few weeks. Whats the point?

So somewhere that says it needs to be weighted needs to be avoided then?

I'd get a new wife 1 kerbing every 2 months is divorce territory, mine just kerbed a Brabus alloy and that came close :D

Lol, the last one I needed a new tyre as well as she took a gauge out of the side wall...well 2 tyres as they had 4mm so needed to balance them up.

Nevertheless I stand by my point.

George

McConechys in Thornliebank use the Hunter system - £30 per axle IIRC.

I've used them before. Had a rear suspension bush that was very badly worn which they identified and sent me away (without charge) to have it sorted before they would look at aligning the wheels.

Needless to say, they got my business after the work was done.

I wouldn't let Kwik-Fit wash my car.

:bannana: Looks like i am going over to thornliebank, and it is only a 10 minute drive away thanks for all your responses guys.. George.

Also didnt do camber bolts only trackrod ends and a ball joint

Anyone with a Mercedes used ABC car services in Leeds?

I have read fantastic things on them on BMW, Skoda and Fast Ford forums but cant see any mention on the Hunter system being used which, from people on here is the be all and end all in everything 4WA.

Just shows how easily led people are.

A couple of rods, pieces of string and a ruler and you can set a car up perfectly.
