Transition from 124 Estate to a 210 Estate.

I had a XM SEi as a company car in 1990. Fantastic car. I'd have another today if it wasn't for the niggling faults some of which the garage never got to the bottom of. Still it never let failed to start in the 2 years and 60K plus miles. It was a world away from the Carlton it replaced. That was boring, but did the job. Previous to that was an Audi 100CC 1.8. It would have been perfect if I could have stretched to the CD model with the 5 cylinder engine.

I got loads of stick for choosing XM rather than something more mundane. Not even telling them it was Car of The Year made any difference.

I took an XM on test from a dealer in 1990, but waited until 1991 to buy a 2.0Si new...from a different dealer.
That one was actually an early car, like yours, which you can tell by the red badged steering wheel. I had a few problems with that one, just niggles apart from one punctured hydraulic pipe, but did 50k miles in it and traded it in for a 2.1SD turbo Auto. (my first diesel). That car had nothing go wrong.

I tried Granada's and Carltons, which were awful in comparison. Volvo 740's were ok, but after the reliability nightmare I had had with the 440GLT that wasn't happening.

Trapper, I'm amazed IBW allowed you to buy a W210!!! lol Still, they're good cars IMHO (I'm on my 3rd). Enjoy.
