One of the supposedly sporty features of my first car - 1987 Vauxhall Nova 1.3SR - had a six dial instrument cluster!! :cool:

16 years on and almost 9 times more expensive, the AMG makes do with just four!!

I've banged on about EGT before especially when a diesel is chipped and everyone laughed.
High EGT kills engines and turbos period!

If chipping a diesel ALWAYS fit and EGT gauge as a safeguard.

I didn't laugh - I was listening carefully at the back of class, and decided that chipping the ML might not be such a good idea, and put father-in-law off too.

The extra power/torque would be handy when towing, but I suspect that the extra load placed on the engine is probably when dangerously high EGT is most likely?
