Returning back to Glasgow from Bristol last weekend I had a blow out at 90mph on M6.I only knew about it when I looked in the mirror and saw smoke coming from rear.Space saver put on and limped back home.Passing a camera van on overhead bridge at Lockerbie.Thankfully only doing 55 at this time.
Took tyre to Kwik fit and waited 3 days for replacement(normal for these 18 inch contis).Went to pick up wheel and was told it was flat.What happenned was rin had a crack which would explain lack of nail etc when I inspected tyre initially.
I have purchased a new wheel at £237,but wonder how this alloy could have cracked.I do not recollect hitting a pot hole etc.
I also resisted the advice to get it welded.I suspect that is an accident waiting to happen.
