Due to change the tyres on 171 ,350.Got Mich Pilots on which are fine ,but read these are a summer tyre!(according to black circles) anyone know how true that is?
Should I stick with OEM or go 20% cheaper with Goodyear F1`s Or Pirellis.
14k from michelins so no wear issue, just the idea of a more all year round tyre if true re pilots.

Hi

Goodyear F1's are very good in ot sumer days...sticky as hell...they feel a bit nervous on the wet.. IMO, stick with the Michelins that you have..and stay away from the traction control (off) button and you will be fine...

Used to run Gooyear F1's on my SLK 230, stuck like glue most of the time. They did wear extremely quickly though evenly. Don't have the SLK anymore any run on bridgestone tyres which are also excellent.

yep!! its the "most of the time" that always worried me...lol

but spot on...excellent tyres for dry conditions...love the cut patterns..

Just fitted new F1`s on the rear of my SLK320, have to say they are good both in the Wet and the Dry ! :thumb: Regards Damian.

Thanks for the replies.
Just found out There is A michelin Pilot PS3 ,an upgrade on the PS 2 and gets great reviews.Good all rounder.Tink this will be the answer

Have read a post on Khumos. They seem to get a great write up.Grip and last well and at 40% cheaper.

Now I am confused.Cheaper can sometimes be as good!!

The wife has KU31's on her SLK as well. Like my W203, it is difficult to fault them.

Seems like current thinking on tyres is equally split between Vredestein Quatracs, Falken FK452's and Kumho KU31's - toss a coin! For me it came down Falken FK452's for my S203, only fitted last Thursday - car is a lot quieter but a bit early yet to say too much.

The 452's seem very good tyres. It will be interesting to see how they wear on your 203. I was a bit disappointed with the 10K I acheived on mine.
