I'm not massively into detailing but I do keep my cars clean, waxed and well cared for.

I've used a Car Plan trigger spray or Aldi (snigger here) Tyre Foam for the tyres in the past, both of which are just OK but don't last.

Yesterday I was persuaded to purchase some McGuires Tyre gel (purple colour) for £12, and it does seem to be rather good.

What do other members use which doesn't cost any more?

I use the same Meguiars one as you and find it pretty good. Be careful not to put too much on or it will just spray up the sides of the car as you drive.

Another vote for the Megs purple gel.

Have used this for a few years now......don't need to use loads each time you apply it and a bottle lasts me ages. Agree with the previous post as well about using sparingly or you get some fling up the side of the car.

This is by far the most durable I've used and gives a nice finish:- http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/gyeon-q2-tire-cat15.html Oh, it will be out of stock as just had a promo on Gyeon gear 3 for 2. For summertime/when it's dry for any period, CarPro PERL diluted 1:1 gives a great finish.

Snow foam is bad enough but if the neighbours see my trying to cure Gyeon tyre dressing with the Mrs hairdryer they'll be calling the men in the white coats.

I use the Megs Endurance too (purple), very good but it has risen in price over the last 18months or so from about £7 a bottle - wait for a Halfords 3 for 2 offer.

Swissvax Pneu is also good. I tried Dodo Tyromania but it is dreadful - you've found one of the better ones.

Fair play, that did make me chuckle.

I de-badged the rear of mine the other week so was sat perched with a heat gun and dental floss...mine must think I'm very "special"!

In all seriousness if it was the curing comment in the directions section that has put you off, don't let it. Works very well with non-hairdryer drying :-)

Megs purple gel is good, I always gently wipe it off after an hour or so. Doesn't really bother with how long it lasts because car gets washed every week.

Megs Purple :thumb::thumb:

I used to use Meguairs Endurance gel, although that has now become the stuff used on my works Navara.

For the CL my choice is Sonax Xtreme High Gloss Gel (Link)

For the times I want a matte look, Zaino Z-16 can't be beat (Link)

Looks like I'll be the only one against the Megs Endurance Gel - no matter how its applied, I've always ended up with it down the side of the car.

So I see the Megs Gel as being too greasy & sticky for my liking, always a messy job.

AutoGlym tire dressing is my favorite, the dressing seems to be water based (my perception), the tire just sucks up the the product leaving a nice & dry finish on the next day (I still pat the tires dry with a kitchen towel), never had a slightest bit of this slinging on to the car.

So my vote is for Autoglym, and would actually recommend against using Megs :D

I use Autoglym Tyre Dressing too, doesn`t make the tyres shiny, just leaves them looking like new, but not the longest lasting thing I`ve ever used :(

Autoglym tyre dressing isn't bad but really doesn't last long at all. If you like the matte look but want durability, check out Zaino Z-16. :thumb:

I carry some with me to an event as you need to reapply it - it doesn't last long.

Thanks for all the great replies. Looks like I'll stick with the Megs Endurance Gel for now. The Sonax stuff looks worth a try too.
