Ultra rare W208 CLK55 cabrio for sale

I wonder if this is the same car that was for sale at MB Milton keynes last year,

Same colour combo, same price...

Beautiful car, and a pleasent colour combo. Rather expensive for a 208, though. I guess it's trading, very much, on the rarity value.

I thought exactly the same when I saw it a couple of weeks ago!

Yup, i wouldn't imagine there are many of these still within the dealer network

I looked at the facelift version of the 55 convertible again a 2003 with 63,000 and that was going for £16,995. Is this 55 better than the one I saw because of rarity?

Is it galvanised :dk: think maybe not so I would head for a W209 post 2004 any day.. but I may stand corrected..

Can't help thinking the next owner will take a massive hit on that....

it's a very expensive W208, rare or not. Once outside of the MB network it will be a £11k car - you can buy W209's for similar money and they don't rust....

They do unfortunately, at least the earlier ones (pre-galvanising, 2004?) :o

6 Cylinder, 18 valve and 221bhp???

MB rust P*sses me off - sat in traffic looking at an M plate VR6 today - bodywork immaculate. How come a premium brand like Merc rusts so badly - when a 15 year old Vee dub doesn't?? The mechanicals on my C43 are great (gearbox aside) such a shame Merc skimped on the galvanising, I love my C43 but there are a couple of tiny rust blisters that annoy me and really spoil the ownership experience.

I agree with you - but MKIII Golfs rust a bit too - even back in the day you'd see quite a few with rusty tailgates and by the bottoms of the doors etc :o

I think most of the new MBs post 2004 are supposed to be galvanised and are much better than the late 90s/early 00s ones :)

I think I saw this car hovering around Windsor last year. It was driven very slowly by a lovely old couple. I remember chatting with the driver about it.

Edit - Can't have been. The roof on the one I saw was blue.

i was happy to find out how cheap it is to get fixed and then its out of your face forever if done properly

Out of interest how do they do it properly so it doesn't come back? I was under the impression that because they generally rust through from the inside out, any repair will just tidy it up for a while and it will re-appear later..?

Nice condition, ultra-low mileage and very rare :o Not an easy car to price!

Still, I agree that £17k seems steep. Although these were pretty expensive new, and with less than 30k on the clock it's probably as near to new you're going to find.

All that new from mercedes for £1250?? That sounds very very cheap.

It does sound cheep, but maybe they feel like it should have been done correctly first time, and subsidise it?
