Hi all, so this morning I just started the job to replace a stained side armrest on my SL 55 with a new one supplied by merc, door came off fine, but I'm stumped at to how to actually acsess the long pin that holds the armrest onto the pocket, i must admit I'm in a bit of a rush now so any help you be great, the only way I can see that ill be able to access it would be to cut off the black plastic moulded pegs which would destabilise the structural integrity of the trim so I won't do that, let me know?

Thanks Laurie

Very hard to see. Inside the pocket at the top on the left and right are those small 1inch black covers screwed down, can you take them off?

think I'm stumped on this one, ill put it back together now, unless anyone has any thoughts? rain is coming

what have you tried on the stain? Autoglym leather cleaner is pokey stuff.

i will need to professionally repigment the area i think, just gutted as i have the brand new non refundable £300 part here ready to fit just can't get to that bloody pin

Get a bloke out to re dye it, it will be as new, as for the new part return it & lose a bit for handling charge or ebay.

u know if its actually real leather by the way?

If MB sell the part, then replacement is possible. Those melted welds are often posts on new parts which you put a circlip on instead., And I suspect you can cut of the weld and then put a screw in to re-attach.

Post some pictures of the new part where it fits in to the door.

I've only replace the post that the door handle pivots on which pulls the bowden cable for the lock, which looked complex but was actually a lot simpler than it seemed once I worked it out
