Hi Guys

I Have taken the inlet manifold off and putting it all back together, to find a thin white plastic vacuum pipe. not sure where it goes as i cant fins anywhere. (Please see attached photos)

Can anyone tell me where it goes, the other end looks like its going to the transmission box, along with green and purplish pipes

Your help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks

Hi

i suppose i should say what model it is, maybe that will help, its a 1994 c180

Driven the car now, and its banging through the auto box, so obviously its a vacuum for the auto box, but where does the other end go to????

Cheers!!!!!!!!!

hi dec,

no theres a white vacuum that runs from the vacuum near the fuse box (drivers side to inlet manifold) its not that one, where your showing in the photo link

The white nylon plastic one i'm talking about comes from down by the bell housing

really need this sorting as it affecting the auto box

Cheers for help so far

Under the windscreen washer tank?

hi dec, nope not that one either, its coming from bell housing with green & purple colour pipes, the white goes towards injectors\inlet manifold, its not a long reach pipe to reach washer bottle, there must some sort of connection on inlet manifold somewhere, but not sure where, as i cannot see or find anything, real weird one eh

There will be a rubber connector for it alright, possible L shaped, maybe it has become detached.

It is the vacuum supply for the gearbox shift modulator. As you have found the modulator doesn't allow any slurring of shift without it. It should plug into a pickup on the underside of the manifold.
You won't damage the box without it connected as it will engage the clutch pack solidly, but will feel hard. It will give a lean mixture at high vacuum conditions, so needs sorting.

May not be the same as yours.

Dec

Edit; I think I have the wrong tube, again, my layout seems to be a lot different from yours.

yep totally different dec

Getting it up on my mates ramps today, to get better access and see if i can find where it goes

Hi Guys,

Sorry it took so long to get back, basically found where it goes!!! YAY!!!

Looking from the top, the 3rd and 4th branch of the inlet manifold, there is a L shaped rubber tube pointing down (thats why i couldnt see it) only 2inch long approx.....fitted the tube in there, jobs a good one!!!!

Very easy not to see, but so simple when you find it LOL

Thanks for your input guys
