I have just picked up a 2005 CLK. Everything seems to be in working order, and the car drives very nicely. However, I got a surprise when I went to plug in my TomTom, as there appears to be a USB input in the 12v socket. Does anyone have an idea what this is about? I don't suppose you can charge the TomTom by plugging it in with the USB connector?

My Volvo has that in the rear 12v socket and it is exactly that powering and charging items via the USB connection

Fair enough, if that's what it does. Just never seen it before, and not entirely sure why it would have that fitting rather than a standard 12v charger?

It might be the previous owner left a low profile 12v charger in the traditional cigar lighter, they basically sit flush.

Like this one - Kensington Powerbolt

To answer your question, yes Tom Tom units will charge from them quite happily.
