Hello All,

Last Week, I bought a Used C220 from a MB dealership.

Upon looking further I've found a few things I'm not happy about.
A 2 inch scratch on the inside of the windscreen, right in front of the drivers field of vision and the fact that all 4 tires are needing to be replaced as they are either showing either bolding to the outside edges or they are down to their wear indicators.

How should I complain?

Regards, Al.

I am surprised at the vehicle being sold in that condition, unless it is 'Sold as seen'.

Quite simply take the car back and show the salesperson ALL the faults and get them recitified.

Sorry to hear that.

Your sales person would probably be your best point of contact/Sales Manager. How long have you had i.e. is it less than 30 Days?

If they try to blame you for the tyres then argue in your defense and say that they had too much black dressing on them and you could not notice. Windscreen should not be issue as they may go down insurance route and pay ur excess for u (if fully comp...). Point out the multi point checks that they're supposed to carry out etc. However, they should just replace the screen itself.

Good luck...

...if it was an "approved" car, they are supposed to all sorts of checks - and evidence this on a form. When I bought my "signature" approved car, I was given a copy of this form "showing" what they had "done". So where is your form? (probably still at the dealers - if they can't find it then they can't "prove" they did all the checking?)

If there was "A 2 inch scratch on the inside of the windscreen, right in front of the drivers field of vision" how did you miss that when you were sitting in the car for a test drive? Did you not test drive it? Did you buy it over the phone & not inspect it at all until AFTER you'd bought it?
Caveat emptor!

Thanks for your un-informative & useless opinion. Neilrr
If I'd wanted Sarcasm, I would have talked to my children thankyou!

Both my Wife and I test drove the car but it wasn't until we had bought the car and drove it in brilliant sunshine (rare in the Uk I know) did we see the scratch.
It's now quite a distraction.

- NEWS UPDATE -
Phoned said 'MB Garage' and they are looking into what can be done.
1) Apparently a scratch can be polished out.
2) Tires? Salesman didn't have a clue. Now with Servicing Section looking for Service Check sheet. Which I'll definately be chasing up - Thanks for the advice DITTRICH

Regards Al.

...just to elaborate a little...
MB used to have this "signature" scheme. I think the marketing people changed its name. Admittedly I bought my car 4 years ago from them under this scheme and it came with a little wallet containing all sorts of stuff including an HPI check (mileage etc etc), a checklist of the things they did / replaced and some other bumpf (I forget). But there must be something either in their "computer" or on paper. You might have to work hard to get hold of it though. Best of Luck and let us know what happens.

BigAl,
I'm very sorry my post wasn't what you wanted to hear, which was apparently something along the lines of "You poor thing! Hoodwinked by the wicked dealer, the nerve of them selling a used car with some flaws!"
It wasn't inteded as sarcasm. If I'm being sarcastic I'll let you know (see above).
I thought it a quite reasonable question - after all it was you who said there was "a 2 inch scratch on the inside of the windscreen, right in front of the drivers field of vision." Buyer beware are words to always keep in mind when buying cars.
Hope it all works out for you.

Hi Al,
How old was the C220? Mercedes-Benz do offer various caveats when purchasing second-hand vehicles. (I thought it was called Signature, but as been stated it has now changed)

Quote from Mercedes-Benz web-site

******To give you maximum peace of mind, every Mercedes-Benz Approved Used car is inspected by a trained technician. The inspection covers all mechanical and electrical components, the bodywork, interior, tyres and wheels and each car is thoroughly road tested before going on sale. Furthermore you’ll receive a copy of the technicians check sheet.*******

Regards,
John

Hi All, Good news!!

They will collect it tomorrow.
The Salesman chased the Services guy who had not passed though the Tech sheet which said it needed 4 new tyres before sale. :bannana:
They will also attempt to polish out the scratch whilst its away.

So I'm H.A.PPY :D

...well done!...
Would it be too much of a downer to suggest that you check the tread on your 4 "new" tyres? I suppose though that they checked at least something!? I suppose I must be paranoid...
