Hi

I am looking to buy a 2003-5 SL500 (R230)

Seen many on Autotrader, Pistonheads, eBay and so on but the good ones seem to go very quickly and surprise surprise, some descriptions can be, let’s say “creative”. So I am thinking of using a professional car sourcing company

Can anyone recommend a good car sourcing company?
What are the pros and cons of using a car sourcing company?

Thanks for your time
Sham

I tried someone local to me when we were looking for the q7. I got fed up of his "i know everything" attitude (he continually ran down cars i had found in favour of his selections which never met the spec criteria).
Told him I would never give him £300 for his "service" so goodbye. I got the impression he had a few dealers in his pocket and was playing both ends so to speak.

If you're that tragic.

Why pay somebody to do it for you when you can do it yourself on here, the internet, or google, for example?
I'll find you a new house/wife/job/career/history/lifestyle etc.

I am at present looking for a new 2nd hand car also, during my time looking around at dealers, two of them have offered me this service when they had no suitable cars for me.

They both quoted £300 plus VAT.

I have given them the details of car I want, if they come up with a suitable car, all well and good.

I think it's easy money for them, people have told me, main dealer gets all/most unsuitable part exchange cars valued by 3 local other dealers, this allows main dealer to sure he will not be stuck with part exchange and can understand his margins on his car sale, he is happy.

If part exchange is taken, dealer who took the car in part exchange has a little time to see if he can get better value than best price agreed by the 3 local dealers.

Now the so called Sourcing man can do a sweet deal.

Result can be, dealer gets a little more £, Sourcing man gets some easy £, buyer gets car a lower price than normal dealer can give.

So I guess it can work out well for everone.

Good Luck...

Thanks for your advice... I'll probably wait to buy the SL after the summer as I am in no rush and have noticed some prices have increased since Xmas... by quite a bit in some cases!

I'll carry on checking the Internet and also think about using http://www.alexcreasy.co.uk/. Had a chat with the guy, seems genuine and professional. Will let you know how it goes.
