V Class V250D
Hi. Newbie here. I recently purchased a 2017 V-Class V250D. The car has developed a warning that comes up on the display when the car is turned on - it can be cancelled by pressing OK. The warning, in Yellow, is a picture of a bulb and the message reads ‘Malfunction See Owners Manual. I have downloaded the online manual (very poor - another annoyance) which tells me that with an external bulb is out (I have checked them all) or I have a problem with the Trailer Hitch and the check the fuses to do with this. The vehicle does have a removable (untested) trailer hitch and electrics. I have found all of the fuse locations relating to ‘Trailers’ but there are no fuses in their locations. Any ideas Please?

Hi, have you changed, replaced any of the lamps as that may cause a fault. Not sure regarding the V class but previous MB’s have had two brake light lamps (bulbs) so appear to be working but one is out…though think that most lamps are led.

Thank you for your replay. The lights are mainly LED and I have checked the rigorously. Also, i believe if it is a specific light then the warning would tell me so. I think I will have to bite the bullet and take it to Mercedes or an Auto electrician.

You could remove a lamp and see if the display gives you that one or just the warning. We have a 2019 V220, there are a lot of lamps.
probably a good idea to find a good MB indie to resolve this and possibly carry out the servicing too.

Have you got any signs of water ingress into the headlamps, tail lamp clusters? Could just be a little bit of high resistance in a lamp holder or LED harness connection. The non specific lamp warning message could be because all the lamps are working but something is not within tolerance.
