Does anyone know if just the valve can be replaced or does the TPM also have to be replaced if the valve is leaking?

If it's just the core, then you can replace it. If not I believe it's one piece.

The valve is separate to the tpm element on my SL. A screw holds the tpm transmitter on to the valve and the valve is bolted through the wheel. A new valve cost me £8 off eBay. Just had two new rear tyres and one valve was "reluctant" to be removed, had to be drilled out and an ordinary valve fitted until I could source a new one hence my new found tpm expertise!

If you replace the whole TPM they it probably will.

I coded mine out on the ML63. Drove me insane!

The valve is indeed a separate part (easy to be told otherwise and spend more than you need to!) The reality is all you need is a black ''rubber'' O ring..........but ...........of course..........you guessed it, you cant get that separate! Thieving *******s! 2 replaced today, other than damaging one of my wheels at the tyre fitters, lets hope they stop leaking air now!
