Ok M272 E35 is fitted, are they any good?

IIRC it gives a little more bhp than the 3.0 CDI but a fair bit less torque. 0-62 acceleration times were identical, obviously the diesel gives better mpg though.

You certainly used to be able to have the 639 Vito with the petrol V6 as a special order ... it was designated as the 123 (230 bhp).

Central engine shaft/ sprocket wears which puts on the engine management light.....cure...engine needs to come out to withdraw central shaft and replace sprocket.

Can go on low mileage engines.

My in-laws have a 2006 R350L which I assume has the same engine and has been absolutely fine. Sounds nice too!

My local Indi has 2 cars with the 350 engine both waiting to be taken out for repair....one a CLS with just 40,000 miles on the clock, the other a ML

A mate of mine has a viano 3.5 l had a drive . nice and smooth has done a few rear mains as do many mb v6. thirsty though when shes loaded up both on weight and the pedal.

Nice one how thirsty.
Price has hit hard on these and you get a lot for your money because of the petrol cost.
It would be interesting to see just what it's like compared to the 3L cdi.

around town around 7.5 -8.5 km per litre not pushing with all seats in the back compare that to a 3.0 cdi at least 10 -12 around town. overall per tank the 3.5 petrol 500/550 km per tank the diesel 3.0 680 -770 well tats what l done. The 120 craps all over it when it comes to the hilly stuff. l am suprised here in oz haw many more petrol vianos both 3.5 and the 3.7 versions there are over the 3.0cdi with the extra weight of seats and lack of torque they cost thousands of dollars more per annum to run.

Interesting, thanks for that.
You have driven both so good comparison.
Is it that gut less? the flat spot on the 120 is a bit annoying at the lights.

It must be quiet and power full at 258 hp ?

its only a little gut less climbing hills, the seats in the viano weigh a tonne. at the lights its right on it from stand still. as for the 120 if you hold the brake with your left foot and stall up at 1000/1200 rpm then release brake and plant the accelarator the 120 will rip into life with no lag from stand still. The biggest problem is the thirst pushing 2 tonne of van that only gets going after 3500 rpm needs a bit of juice and the average km an aussie will travel per year 25-30 thousands the petrol version will burn a hole in your pocket. unless your doing very little miles per year it wont make much difference. facturing in that it likes high octane unleaded and like to rev .

Thanks very much for this.
I only do about 5000- 8000 miles a year so not to worried, and I have seats in mine so I know what your saying about them.
Does it use the same 722.6 auto?

Just had the Vin number and it's 01/08 so it has the balance shaft sorted.
Looking on the EPC it was avalable with LPG at the factory!
It has in parts a Toroidal tank if you remove data card?

l believe it does use the same auto, l test drove a vito 119 petrol with the 3.2 v6 a while back and it was silky smooth then and later box i think mb went tip tronic as the 120. the gas conversion idea is a great fuel cost saving alternative ,but in aus there is no history of any type of benz engine converted to run on lpg as far as l know, .
