Hey guys!

Just got myself a 2002 Vito 112CDi but having some issues with the central locking. I've done various things to both cars and bikes in the past but never had anything to do with central locking.

The doors will lock if you turn the key in the passenger door twice but none of the others. The sliding door on the LHS doesn't react to the locking at all and has to be done manually from the inside.

Where would you suggest me to look first. I've got a multimeter etc, but I'm not entirely sure how central locking really works.

Any help and I'd be really grateful!

Haven't had a chance to look through yet but I'm converting it into a camper so might stick up a build thread too, watch this space!

No experience of the 2002 Vito but did it have central locking? MB notorious for stripping out everything not a specific order. The 2005 Vito we had did have remote locking so if yours does check the signal first.

No remote locking unfortunately, just central locking.

central locking

I have finally sorted out similar issues with my v class the central locking will unlock itself if any of the doors (or lock switches) are not locked correctly. The second time you lock it is an override to ignore the unlocked door. When it is locked go round and check all the doors to see if any are still unlocked if one is the actuator on that door may be faulty or stiff. if all door are locked it could be dirty contacts on the sliding door clean these with sand paper. If this is still causing issues check the wiring harnesses in the drivers and passenger door these split at the hinge and can cause lots of problems with locks and electric windows.
