Vito Model Number & Year List?

The V5 also shows the Dualiner as a panel van.

The V5 for my Dualiner shows "VAN/SIDE WINDOWS" as the body type.

There's honestly no link between road tax and speed enforcement. It's purely based on the physical attributes of the vehicle i.e.
  • Unladen weight does not exceed 2040 kg
  • Permanently fitted with a rigid roof
  • 2 or more proper passenger seats (fixed or folding) to the rear of the driver's seat
  • Windows on both sides of these seats, and at the rear
  • Distance from steering wheel to back of rear seats must be at least 1/3 of the distance from the rear seats to the back of the vehicle
DPV status depends on the exact spec. e.g. a solid tailgate (must have a window behind the rear seats) or heavy options like a secondary battery (taking the unladen weight over 2040 kg) would mean mean it no longer qualified, and van speeds would then apply.

I concede your points on DPV.
Having done a bit of reading to push my opinion while I can see the Vito can't be classed as a CDV it can be classed as you say as a DPV.
The Viano is approved as a passenger vehicle anyway, but my later point might still apply.
There are some criteria to meet though, one being
"i) be permanently fitted with at least one row of transverse seats (fixed or folding)".

The clip in seat arrangement that I have is shared by many, and the longer floor rails are common. I don't see how these can be considered permanent as the design is for removal of the seats.
With seats removed the rear floor area will exceed the 1/3 permitted distance from the rearmost point of the steering wheel.
Certainly I remove them when loaded with sailing kit.

My assumption would be that without at least 2 rear seats actually in place van speeds would apply. But it's a bit of a grey area - I had a VW Sharan before the Vito, and ran that permanently with all 5 of the rear seats removed ... essentially turning it into a van! :D

As an aside I actually saw two VW Transporter Kombi vans on the M40 today with side windows and middle seats, but solid tailgates. A strange choice because as mentioned that would stop them being classed as a DPV.

Up to 2010.

I don't have a high enough post counts to be able to PM you m80, so looks like I have to ask here.
Do you know if you can retro fit heated seats to a 115, perhaps via upgraded or E class seats?
I have other questions, but would rather have sent a PM (are you on FB messenger?)

I'm assuming you mean fit heated to a vehicle that didn't previously have heated.
Yes 'possible',
but in my mind very complicated, to do this to oem standards at least.

The simple way is to buy heater pads, off eBay perhaps. So pick up 12 volts from under the passenger seat perhaps, the battery is there as are spare fuse ways.
Mount eBay style switches somewhere,
strip the seats and instal the pads, not an easy task (I've stripped these seats).
I've no experience of the pads but I remember reading of a member who installed these to his rear seats (not Vi) and said they worked well.

For oem the switch pack at the front would need changing, although I know there is an easier way if the switch caps can be sourced.
Identify the supply point to the heaters, but you would need to run from the under bonnet fuse box to supply that. Then on to the seats.
It may be that the SAM would need coding by Star to make the facility available, I don't know for sure.

In short finding a Vi with heated seats is far easier.
These are rare in the Vito and much more common, but not regular, in the Viano.

As mine has the 2 heated front seats, and as is common the drivers seat is shot, I'm looking to instal ML164 seats up front.
It is an assumption that the heater will be directly compatable with mine.
I would need to run 12 volts from under the bonnet to the seats for the controllers.
As the movement controls and memory are integral to the seat there is no need to concern myself with door cards.
I did this upgrade to my earlier Vito but with ML163 seats. All movement and memory worked fine they are more comfortable, but the heaters aren't compatable w/o a voltage comparator.
I stripped the heaters out of my removed Vito seat and installed into the ML seat. It worked well enough but was a pain of a job.

Thanks for that.
I'd be going for a C or E class upgrade to the seats, so would be looking to have these connected for a heat option.

I am currently just looking at 115s based on your advice and have a few to view.
Anything in particular tell tale signs to look for?

Finally, do you know of any companies in or around the Midlands that do Vito upgrades such as the heated seats, Sport body work, cargo / passenger divider etc?

Me no.
Others might.

Bit puzzled by what you mean by divider.

The only full height bulkhead I've seen is in the panel van, but that's behind the driver, and you want a seperator behind the front row of rear seats.

TBH we travel a lot, just 2 of us, with all rear seats removed, or with 2 captain seats left in if not carrying so much.
I carry pretty well all kit in boxes, much like music equipment, and a outboard strapped upright at the very rear.
The stuff gets packed so any movement is mimimal. We've never felt a need for any separation.

There are various types of clip in add ons that go into the floor rail system that might be addapted for a ply plate,
this sort of then, perhaps

I've got a feeling there are fittings for a luggage net, as you'd have on an estate? Possibly only with the rear speakers/rear lining/roof lining pack though.

I have seen them added to quiet a few, just not sure who does it?
I'm considering it partially to keep the ambient noise down and also to saf guard anything moving forward into the passenger area.

The rear seats are pretty high ... unless you've got loose stuff loaded up to the roof it's pretty unlikely anything could move forward. And if you get a Vito that has the roof lining, rear trim panels, soft floor, etc. (this was called the Comfort Pack when we bought ours) you definitely don't need a rear bulkhead from a noise POV. If you ignore our caging ;) you can see what I mean here:

Many thanks for the images and information.
I wasn't aware of the Comfort Pack option so that is very useful to know.
Thanks again.

It also includes rear speakers for the sound system - you can see a grille in the 1st pic. I posted, just behind the 2nd row seats.

I guess these interior trim panels were just Viano parts, like most of the Vito factory options. In fact if you look at the 2nd pic, just above the top tier cage floor, there are mounting points in the side panels to take a pull-out luggage cover.
