Hello,

I could just do with a bit of wheel and suspension advice.....

I've just bought some 14" chrome trims,:bannana:

however i now need some steelies, do these have to be Merc steelies to fit over the hub and everything else they've got to fit over, or will most 5x112 steel wheels fit?
My current wheels are

I dont suppose the trims would just go over these.. they're 14".....:thumb:

I'm also looking at lowering my car :D, I've seen some 50mm lowering springs by H&R, however if i was to put these on would i have to change my dampers at the same time? I don't want to cut my original springs as if i want to return to standard height, the standard springs are the same price, if not slightly more than lowering springs.

Ideally i would like to use standard dampers, as upgrading dampers seems quite expensive.

If you can help at all, please let me know..

Thanks in advance.....

The trims will only go on steel wheels and lowering the 50mm changing the shocks is a must

Thanks, and do you know about the steel wheels, whether they can be off a car with same stud pattern or it has to be a Merc of similar era?

If i was to lower the car 40mm, would i need to change the shocks? :dk:

Cheers

Ok, great stuff, those wheels would be perfect, thanks for link. just a bit far for me to go, thanks for all the help. What could potentially happen if i was to lower the car to 50mm using springs and kept original shocks? Thanks, sweet Merc by the way....

just remembered, the front n/s tyre has significantly worn on the inside edge, just wondering if you might know what this is?

Well:The shocks wont be doing much as they`ll be in half way already

right, yeah pretty obvious actually. thanks for all your help, it's greatly appreciated. i'm new to the world of Mercs, so im sure you'll probably be seeing many more questions from me :D

You need the correct W123 steels otherwise your caps wont fit.

Also note they use a completely different bolt so you need those too.
