Can some one with more information on this type of car. Question would removing the radiator and water pump for replacement ,drain out all the coolant .Only put 1/2 of the required amount in and it wont let me put the other half in.Looking now as if it all did not all come out when i removed pump and rad. Thank you for any help given.

there is a drain plug for the RAD

and a drain plug for the block, to attach a pipe, under exhaust manifold.

The secret is to measure what came out and replace with same. [ always fill up with the correct 50/50 water antifreeze pre mixed ]Some advocate positioning the car in such a way that the coolant reservoir and radiator are at the highest point of the car. e.g facing uphill on a slight upward slope with the cars driver side front wheel up on a kerb [ or equivalent]. This makes it easier to get rid of any air locked in the system. Warm up the car with the coolant reservoir pressure cap off initially and then squeeze the radiator flexible pipes to help move any trapped air but watch the fan.

When you remove the radiator and pump some of the coolant will remain in the block if the car is not tilted to allow the coolant in the block to drain out

yes

The car was facing down hill at the time .Done it all to the book .But i did not drain it at the drain tap .Just unable to get at it.I thought that as it had the pump off , that it would all drain off facing down slope.I will run it untill i get new coolant to replace it with. Would you drain off, flush it out, lock up, tip the coolant in and top up with distiled water.

And remember to turn your heater dials in the cabin to hot whilst filling up the coolant.
