Hi all, my e220 93 w124 has new engine bay loom, rebuilt throttle body and starts first time, even after weeks of no use.
Problem is it starts, up to 1200 revs, drops back to about 700, then gradually dies.
Does this till it’s warm, as it gets warmer(2/3 time starting) it tries to tickover at 250/300, sounds like it’s firing on 2 cal then dies...... eventually it will run and as it gets warmer settles down fine...... any thoughts please

These cars are known to suffer from ignition coil failure- on your car these 2 will be externally mounted under the inlet manifold. In turn these failed coils can destroy the ignition transistors that fire them in the engine ECU. Sounds as if that may be the problem?
