Can anyone help with this?

I assumed (uh oh!) that the tacky 8-ball gear knob currently fitted to my project E220 would simply screw off, however, it looks like it's glued.

Do I need to remove the shaft?

Thanks in advance.

The wooden part needs to come of on order to change the gear knob, simple job though

I can't find a description of how to do that on here. Am I just stripping out the centre console to access the selector?

No,only the bottom part where the gear and window switches are needs to be pulled up.Do you have a cubby box between your seats?

No, just a tray with a carpet insert. Can't see any fixings anywhere to undo the trim- does it just pull off?

Pull the carpet and there`s a screw holding it,and the gear knob is screwed in

There will be a single screw under the carpet in the tray. Take this out and the wooden panel will lift up. Take care not to damage the ashtray.

Beat me to it!
