Evening folks,

Ive got a question regarding how the rear drop glass is held in.

is it just two bolts and the glass slides out without having to remove the entire regulator or are they riveted in?

Cheers

yes the quater rear triangle shape windows.

Billy, I thought you would be able to see from your disassembled coupe:-)

How right you are Tony, i even looked at the assembley before posting this too!

The thing is i couldnt quite make it out and thought somebody may know and confirm for sure.

Examining a qtr glass for sale on ebay, it seems that there are fixing mounts where the glass is attached to for either rivets or bolts.

i suspect they are are for bolts when looking at the actual assembley. But the pic below looks like rivet holes!

I guess ill have to examine further tommorrow!

Hi billy, if i remember correctly the rear glass on coupes are bolts and the fronts are rivets which have to be drilled out to remove the glass.

No rivets on the 124 glasses from memory, that started with the 202!
10mm bolts all the way usually.

You have to remove the "sacco board" cladding on the outside of the car to get to the bolts which are hidden under two rubber bungs.

Jay you sure you are not refering that to remove the actual rear window regulator?

its just the glass that needs removing, having a look again its two 10 mm nuts one for which you can get a socket in there. The other where by the glass needs to be lowered to get the socket in properly.

It seems to match up with the mountings on the above pic of the glass.

It has been some years, but pretty sure you can get a ratchet spanner on there no matter the position...handy for a siezed motor.

My memory is really failing me...sure they were bolted. Oh well, it has been 7 years since i had my CE.

I've had cause to look at this myself today and you are actually correct - it is bolts/screws that hold the glass in place in the doors.

The rivets just hold the regulator in place in the coupe doors.

Thank you very much chaps,

Yes it is indeed nuts and bolts holding it in
