w124 e36 estate on ebay spares repairs

Not estates though, only 7 rhd estates were made

This is pretty rare then?

A lot of confusion above ... So forgive the confusion but this is definately genuine E36?
I ran the above vin through the russian vin decoder and it didnt work.

Also .. How much work to fix the mount rot ... Does anyone know?

I asked the MB specialist who I do trust on matters such as amg even if I'm not a fan of him personally, it is a genuine e36 amg. Bare in mind I do also have w124 knowledge, and have seen this car in person.

However, he said its in a bad way.

anybody wanting donor car complete with e36 runing gear it is their

Whilst it might be rare (one of 7) that does not make it valuable now or likely to appreciate lots in the future.
Rare is just a small facet of many that make a car desireable. Others are history, racing pedigree, famous associations, style/era qualities etc etc. An AMG W124 E36 has none of these and consequently will never be great collectors car or offer a good return on the restoration.
Even worse from the photos this one looks a wreck and looks like a pretty basic spec car to begin with.

Didn't the E36 get a larger airbox and had a different rocker cover to that?

Been a long time since we had an E36 so i'm happy to be corrected.

Wrong, the clean ones do go for a fair value
I'm not saying this one is good to restore and sell for a profit as it wont happen but it'll be good for someone to save it and enjoy it for what it is

Sorry but other than being rare what other facet does the car have of the examples I mentioned.? None.
Rightly or wrongly what you describe as a "fair" value just does not make financial sense unless you are restoring this car as a labour of love.

Looks absolutely genuine. I owned one of these until recently. Awesome car, bags of character and pretty quick for its age and size. Someone save it please!

Read the ^ again please, you say an E36 124 meaning not only this very car
As for the examples you mentioned,a lot of collectors must be stupid having cars that have none of what you mentioned

Both your statements have valid points (scillyisles and dash). Although I love E36 cars and they are rare, especially in estate form.. the one's in complete standard trim would merely appeal to enthusiasts or someone willing to restore one purely for the love of it, or use it as a donor. However, the ones which came with everything including the AMG bodykit, sportline interior and so on.. those one's may get the attention of collectors and hold a certain value.

7 is such a small number I can't help but think whatever the spec it would be sought after to a fairly large degree. The basic spec might even appeal more to some enthusiasts in the future.
Of course time has the big baring ... We are at the bottom of the depreciation curve at the moment.
A lot of cash to pull this back though I imagine.

This would be lovely if done. And really it's the engine and suspension in the original chassis you're looking for. Clean and smart this could sell for plenty and will only go up in value.

These cars have bottomed out in value for nice ones. Just needs a wizard and a wand. And a big first investment!

For what it's worth I prefer these cars without the bodykit. I have an estate without and my neighbour has one with... They are parked next to each other all the time.

Now, now, don't start bad mouthing my car :p although yours is mint.
But you've probably noticed the 500sel, way too many projects at once.

Love this pic of them having a stand off :thumb:

No bad mouthing brother! They complement each other. I just like the original simplicity of the design. On another note, I do like the Sundym green glass in your pic; the cars look great.

I looked at your 500SEL last night. You'll need a big scrubbing brush to tidy that one but I love that series. I want an SEC really.

The black 124 on the above link is amazing ...

I just wish I didn't like so many cars at the moment! So tempted by one of these ... But just can't fit it in to my life sadly.
