Ive just driven down to Devon from London with my seat back almost on the floor as every time i try to move it back up it blows the fuse and the polarity seems wrong cause the switches seem to be reversed. Does anyone have a colour coded system for the under seat wiring? i must have replaced the wrong wire in the wrong plug when i replaced the seat base.

For the record my car is a coupe with electric heated seats...

its a 1990 300ce 24 without memory or adjustable wheel...

If it is blowing the fuse maybe you have a short somwhere or the motor is drawing too much current causing the fuse to blow?

Check Fuse Ampage

I think it should be 16A a red fuse.

Seat wires MAYBE?? as shown. colours from left ---right

black/white/blue/violet/brown(earth)/yellow/green/orange/grey---missing from pic headrest connections pink+green/pink

Hi, thanks so much for this, do you know which colours should be with which in the big 8hole plug? Is that the one i even should be concentrating on?

I assume this is what you mean? I took this loom out of a 1992 24Valve but it didn't have heated seats, arrowed is the locator pin, Hope this helps...

you are looking at the orange and grey wires for the back rest. Orange is the supply 12v for raising the seat back up and grey is the earth. To move to recline the seat they are reversed-- grey is then the 12v supply and orange the earth reversing the motor direction. disconnect the plug and test the supply pins with a voltmeter by operating the switch to recline /raise the seat back.
supply fuse may be 25A (blue)

Brilliant! Thank you! One last Q, should the wire colours be the same in the terminal that the above plug goes into?
Last one i promise!

Your all amazing

Cant say for certain not having a seat to check but according to the diagram above the answer should be yes.
