My cars going in for a service tomorrow at my local indy and have just remembered how much I was charged for oil last time! £41 incl VAT so thought id supply my own this time.

What should I be buying? couldnt sound more disorganised if I tried :( but having one of those days.

Cheers,
C
p.s i did have search before posting but never came up with anything

I have an E220 too. I use Millers XSS semi synth 10/40. Never let me down yet. and a 5ltr can is going to cost you about £18.

Cheers for the reply Ian. going to nip out now and see whats available.

I'll second that. Used Shell Helix 10w40 semi-synthetic before that was OK too but slightly more expensive

I've just the oil change myself . . have been running Magnatec semi-synth since I've had the car.
But changed to Mobile 1 0w-40 over the weekend. Car seems a little quieter . . tappet noise on start up fades a lot quicker.
However, it now never totally disappears! Maybe the oil is just too thin.
Cost me a small fortune too . . £45 for 5 litres and I bought 10 litres!
Wasted a litre of it since I wanted to run the engine and use that to flush it through, clear out as much of the old oil as possible.
Will continue to run with it for now and see how it goes, but I may go for something more viscous next time.
