I'm currently replacing all the interior bulbs in my C124, however, I keep finding conflicting threads on whether two backlights exist or not ??

Is there any backlighting to the drivers side of the steering wheel ? At the moment i'm getting only the headlight switch to illuminate only when the fogs are switched on.
1) Should there be any backlighting for the headlight switch with just the headlights on ?
2) Is there actually supposed to be a backlight in the driver side air vent ?

One other small thing, all my console switches now light up except the rear headrest drop one.
- Is this supposed to light up when they are already down, and if so are the bulbs in the back of the switches themselves ?

Its amazing how much better a fully backlit (nearly) cabin looks, wish i'd done it all sooner now :)

Not on the switch itself but the surrounding area should be lit up

YES

the switches have lights in them. you need to remove the switch

Make sure you buy the 1.5 bulbs. i got a set of 10 on ebay pretty cheap. Higher rated ones can melt the plastic

Thanks mate, I've read threads that say only the fog lights light up and it didn't sound right to me.
I had the clip in panel around the headlamp switch off last week, I didnt notice anywhere for a bulb to sit though. i'd better have a proper look the weekend. Another excuse to avoid Christmas shopping :thumb:

there is a sort of white box that this clips into. you'll notice it when you remove as the wire will be coming out of it for the bulb holder

Cheers :thumb:

I've been pleasantly surprised that the 0.4W clear bulbs that replaced the old Frosty ones don't appear to be any different in brightness, nice not to have to replace the whole lot.

I don't seem to have the wiring for the drivers side vent.
I managed the passenger side and centre vents no problem, the drivers side however was a right b**** t get out. Once out there was no wire feeding a bulb into the switch ??

As per the attached pics, is the 2nd one showing where the wiring would connect up if I managed to source it ?
