W124 Remus Exhaust

The backbox is new but i want 350 for it though ;).The thing is that I don`t know how it sounds but the Remus I have on my car sounds

Mine was £180...Brand-new as well, I thought it's some crap stuff, that's why it's cheap.

I like the idea of Remus, put undecided about the size, because I don't know how much cutting is involved, if I go with a bigger one and want to see picsssss of both :D

By the way, anyone got pics with Remus fitted? :)

Would be great to see, without the matter whether it's angled one or straight.

There's a few pics here on a US W124 if you scroll down the page (although the label seems to say SL300/500, so not sure if it had to be modified to fit).

Yeah, seen those, but it's a completely different model of Remus. It's actually custom made, so no good to me.

d_w124, would you take a pic for me? ;)

And where's Ian? Need a pic of his as well...

Right, here is the thing.I a big fan of remus noise, but not so much on their tailpipes. My tailpipes are not showing much,is more the noise I was after. If I had the smaller pipes than fine but they only do that for 4 cyl,so don`t like the tailpipes much.I`m in SE12 so you`re very welcome to come and look.

Alright, no probs ;) Thanks anyway.

That Remus exhaust going for £517 looks alot like the period AMG exhaust found on Gen2 AMG kitted W124s....

I know remus made AMG exhausts...Could this be the same unit rebadged as a Remus??

I personally am going to wait untill an AMG embossed one comes up for sale.....

Dee, you're going to be waiting for long :D

After watching some videos and looking at pics, I'm liking the 74x65mm angled one. No bumper cutting, cheaper price, looks and, I believe, sounds the same...

So that will be my choice. Will take some snaps, once I get and fit it.

Cheers

The AMG backboxes are pretty subtle, just a slight bit more burble compared to the stock exhaust but it awakens with a nice sweet sound when you floor it :) Ive never heard a remus personally so im not sure how that would sound.

Im also looking to get my centre box removed soon, hopefully this will add some more low end burble during idle.

If you want it to look like the AMG period ones, then go for the twin square angled one.

Got a question....

I found the exhaust that I want on Remus's website, but the mounting points of the exhaust are vertical for some reason, instead of horizontal? Those things that hold the rubber bands...

Here's the link:

Remus UK - Performance Exhaust Systems

It's says it's for E220CE, meaning Coupe, but will it fit a 5dr saloon?

When I search for a 5dr saloon, it only shows me the 90x75mm version, which requires cutting...Although the mounting points on this one are correct.

Here: Remus UK - Performance Exhaust Systems

Any ideas?

Lol,is all good there mate, you can just put the bracket correctly.I think the saloon one is a bit longer but not to sure.Still you can extend without any problem

I`d still say consider the sebring one though

I would, but don't mind paying a bit more to get Remus. At the end of the day, there's nothing better, than Remus for a Mercedes ;)

Unless you can find me a W124 AMG/Brabus backbox...

The AMG ones go for big money and don`t come up as often. In my opinion the AMG tails look very nice but i would not expect much noise considering you have a 4 cyl.As for the brabus one witch is made by Sebring, have a look how much this went for Brabus Sportauspuff W124 500e e320 e280 e300 e500 on eBay (end time 15-Aug-10 18:23:09 BST)

Brabus exhausts are made by Sebring? :O I've never heard of them and they're much cheaper than Remus, that's why I'm not sure about them...

As far as I know, yes.Just to go a bit OT,is your car manual? From what I can understand, you have an Indian car

Yes, mate. It's a manual (don't like Auto), and I believe it's Indian, because Germans didn't make W124's in 1998, lol

I will create a project thread around the weekend with pics and everything :)
