W140 Non-SLS Rear Suspension Sag (98' S420)

When I changed the shocks on my w203, the replacements (brand new like for like Sachs, which was original fitment) had much stiffer compression and we're much harder to fit than the old ones to remove. Still easy-ish, but needed to use a second jack to compress slightly. I could barely compress the new ones by hand, but the old ones could be compressed a more noticeable amount. I certainly noticed and increase in ride height from brand new shocks, and I find it odd (only because of my experience) that 3 years ago, it was noted that new shocks made no difference to the ride height.

When I did the same job on my W126 I changed the shocks at the same time as the springs ; it made little difference to the ride height - these were genuine MB springs ordered against the chassis no of my car .

I have noticed in the past that new shocks can be much harder to compress than old worn ones .

Well , my new spring pads finally arrived , after a week in transit , but they are 130mm diameter and match the new springs I have .

Will have a go either this afternoon or tomorrow at fitting them .

Hi can you please let me know how this progressed? I have same issue and have also received the bigger diameter springs. Will they fit the post 95? Mine is a 97.
