w164 comand anti-theft warning message

have just got a warning on the comand system saying that the anti-theft has been activated and to switch on the ignition .....( strange when the engine is running ) any ideas......?
The radio will work for approx 20 seconds after re-starting and then I get the same message.
Could it have anything to do with a new ignition switch fitted about 4 months ago or something more sinister?

Does it turn on/off with the ignition (i.e is it seeing CANbus).

I;ve seen the anti-theft message before (it talks to the EIS and the cluster) but not with the turn on ignition message

Thanks for the reply....If you turn the ignition off and then re-start , the comand goes through the MB sign....then you get the do not distract message.....the radio then comes on with the usual display but, after 10-15 seconds you get the anti-theft message and the radio cuts off. the anti-theft message says to re-start the system after turning on the ignition....?

OK, on the assumption that this just suddenly started happening, it probably has just got confused and needs unlocking using Star Diagnosis. (Probably at a dealer since they may need the PIN from the internal Mercedes database called VeDOK)

Thanks Richard........will get the MB dealer to " plug it in " then.....many thanks.....Probably incur a usual sizable MB bill as normal.........will let you know.
