Hi,

Getting limp mode on my ML once every so often when it does a long trip.

A independent service guy got me these codes out of the system:

2768 Component Y3/8n2 (Internal speed sensor (VGS)) is defective. STORED
2767 The signal from component Y3/8n2 (Internal speed sensor (VGS)) is not available. STORED
0717 The signal from component Y3/8n1 (Turbine speed sensor (VGS)) is not available. STORED

I am getting different advice on what needs to be done to fix it. Mercedes have said a new valve body is needed, but one independent says just the conductor plate needs updating. Someone else suggested just doing a transmission service might cure the issue to clear out any gunk.

Has anyone else fixed this limp issue and what method was used?

Has anyone actually ever managed to fix it by just doing a transmission service?

Thanks
Nathan

Replacing the whole valve body is a bit overkill and they should know better. The fault codes you have states on the technical document they SHOULD go by says for those fault codes only replace the electrical plate in the gearbox.

The only downside is when replacing this it has to be coded via online star machine.

How do you find out if you have VGS1, VGS2, or VGS3 in the car?
