The A Class owners books doesnt seem to mention how to turn on the heated door mirrors? Do they turn on when the windscreen demister is on?

They come on automatically.

Are both heated or just the drivers side?

Both.

I believe it is similar to the set up on the 163 ML. They come on when the temperature is below a certain degrees.
