We now have the ability to custom code the instrument cluster on W169 A class and W245 B class cars up to model year 2011.

My own 2009 B class now has OTG, fuel tank content, date etc. :bannana:
UK mode deleted :D

If you guys figure out a way to do it on a W246 I will your first customer for it :-)

Sorry to be dim - but what is OTG?

Outside Temperature Gauge

Basically where it permanently shows KPH on a UK Car but elsewher you can switch it to show a much more useful Outside Temp.

Do they honestly think anyone would use that tiny display to monitor speed especially when one 5 or 6 times the size is avail with a few button presses

UK coding removed from my face-lift year 2009 W169 with the help of fellow member. Now have the option to select OTG/MPH/KPH as well as displaying the date stamp on the main display. A big thank you to Koolvin for his time and help.

Here is what the new display looks like with the UK coding removed. Koolvin even activated the gallons remaining - nice touch and very cool me thinks.

Looks good, you ordered that Dimming RVM harness yet?

W169 Auto dimming RVM harness A1695400706 arrived yesterday and fitted this morning. All working and this is an easy retrofit - hardest bit is getting the old RVM off which is quite stiff. Koolvin was extremely helpful with getting the old RVM off, so a big thank you for the help.

Any chance getting this done (delete UK mode) in / near Northampton?
C169 A200 Avantgarde SE 2006

Also, wongl - I'd appreciate your advice: I too am going to retrofit electrochromic RVM in my 169, I see the part number in your last message, is this something that plugs into a socket in OCP with the other end going into mirror socket? Or, is there hard-wiring involved (not a problem, as long as I know what goes where)?

Any pointers on removing the old mirror? Other than depressing the lug at the bottom? Already removed the casing from the rain/light sensor ...

The harness plugs into the mirror and the OCP on my face-lift W169 and also on my daughter's pre-face-lift W169. You can run the cable behind the light-sensor trim. The plugs are coded so will only plug into the correct socket in the OCP (if I remembered it correctly).

Have you purchased your auto-dimming RVM yet?

That's great to know, thanks - removes the uncertainty.

I'll get the cable tomorrow, if in stock at local MB, otherwise a couple of days ...

Yes, I have the RVM delivered today :bannana:

Well done on getting the auto dimming RVM. Make sure you test the mirror with the cables connected to the OCP with the engine on (by covering the light sensor on the back and shining a flashlight on to the sensor on the mirror side) before you fit it.

It is not uncommon for the RVM to be damaged in the post, so you don't want to install everything including refitting all the trim etc only to find a fault with the new RVM.

Great advice, thanks again! :thumb: Will certainly do that.

Had a somewhat crazy idea of hiding a GPS tracker inside the RVM, but decided against it in the end - mostly because I don't like any of the SIM card extension leads I've seen so far - been trying to find something similar to iPhone slot ... :dk:

Me too! But mine wouldn't fit in there!

I bought a small one just for that reason, although I haven't opened the RVM to check for available space .. yet ;)

I assume it will fit okay, and the self-adheseve antennae would transfer easily ... will see.

Cannot really determine the actual size from the photo, but it is really tight behind the rain sensor trim!

A fellow forum member suggested sourcing a spare rain sensor trim housing to use for housing the GPS antenna or dash cam. This would probably work but I think it would still look odd to have a 2nd rain sensor housing stuck to one side of the factory rain sensor trim.

The PCB is actually 35mm x 50mm.

I agree, the second trim would look rather weird, and will not hide what's inside it from a passer-by, only from a passenger, which is basically opposite to what I want.
