Hi all

After a bit of advice regarding the ABS system, so thought I'd ask the collective knowledge to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

On start up the BAS/ASR light comes on along with the ABS light and the brake wear indicator. Engine won't rev above 1,000 rpm which I presume is a safety feature. This happens while the car is in neutral and has not moved.

I've had a look around the forum and it appears that they are several issues which might be the source of the problem, however as this is happening before the car has been put into drive I'm wondering if this is suggesting the issue is more ABS speed sensor related and the system is showing the fault straight away as there possibly no signal from one or more ABS sensors.

As the car won't rev its gonna be difficult to drive it to my local MB indie to get the codes read

Has anyone else had similar issues and a fix?

Given the age of the car this could be its final hurrah, I was hoping to get it to 200k miles but might be short by 10k

thanks in advance, all comments welcome

cheers

You will need the codes read. It could be loads of things.

Latest update - took the car in to get the codes read but no signal from the abs controller, which I'm told will be either a power supply issue to the controller or a knackered controller, was only getting the codes read on a quick 15 mins slot, so will need to get it booked in, (mechanic checked the fuses and these were ok

So if it's a bad connection etc I presume it's an easy fix, but a new controller probably means the squasher for the car

Has anyone else had similar problems or interested in a C250 estate for spares

This any use.

Hi cheers for the reply, I have seen this on U tube, not tried replacing the such yet, but as theres no signal from the ABS controller at all I don't think it would solely be related to the brake light switch - might be wrong though

I was gonna se if I could trace the power supply through the system to the ABS controller, has anyone else done this before?

Thinking about it I'm getting all the abs / bas lights and brake pad wearing lights and hand brake on lights, and the car will will still drive in first gear

So in my mind has got to be down to the abs controller being down, due to either knackered abs controller or power supply fault

Any thoughts ?

Well the car lives. Had it in to MBTech who traced the problem to a faulty relay, R40 I think they said,
