W202 2000 - Sticking in park

Hi Guys,

I went to select gear after starting the car from cold (2000, W202 C200 Auto)
And the gear selecter would not move, so retarted the engine and then was able to select drive. Then upon trying to move from park to reverse, it stuck again, this time it only was able to select aftyer two engine restarts...

have had the car on test for 6 months before the lease car goes, the day I'm swapping over the cars the Merc goes wrong!!!!

Any idea's - is it some sort of gear selecter sensor? or a sensor in the foot brake?

I know the brake has to be on before you move the lever so possibly a brake switch problem ?

Might be worth checking if the brake lights are functioning when this occurs.

ooh.... there was an indicator on the dash to show that there was a light blown... surly that couldn't stop the gearbox from selecting ?
