Hello People
I've had my W202 about 6 months now and love it.
But I've got the problem with the boot lock.
I've just got back from Frankfurt and I've got everyones bags in my boot and its stuck closed.

Can't get in with the key or the remote. I looked round a bit but my question is

How do I get the back seats down so I can attack the lock from the inside.

Cheers

The back seats can be removed but unfortunately there is a solid metal pannel between the cabin/boot (unless you have the ski hatch behind the arm rest in the back?)

I do have a ski hatch, but its blocked by a bit of plastic, can i just put that out from in the back of the car ?

Is there not any seat release to drop the seats from the inside ?

Cheers

Use some WD40 on the boot lock and persevre with it. If the key is correct it should open.

If not there is another method which is not for public viewing

Already given it loads of WD40 and spent 20 min or so of wigglin' it. I'm gonna just knock out the bit of plastic and scuttle in to the boot like a half man half snake DIY beast

Can we have some pictures of that. They'll be good to add the DIY forum.:D

can you hear the motor going (or vacuum depending on year of car!)

Ok thanks for you help everyone, I got it open,

I Found this post on a nother forum

''I have started to get the same problem, I am unable to open the lid with fob or by hand. I can however open it with the mechanical key, the technique is to turn the key all the way to the left and then push in. If you first push in and then turn left it won't open.

I also figured out why it is happening. When I open the trunk with the mecanical key the light does not go on. If I then re-close it I am unable to open it again and must use the mechnical key. There is a plastic pin on the edge of the trunk lid that detects if the trunk gets opene, this sensor is sometimes stuck. By pulling the sensor/plastic pin the trunk lights go on and when I reclose the lid I am able to reopen it both by hand and knob. It appears that if you close the lid without the lights going on the lid gets stuck and you need to reopen it with the mechanical key and proper technique. Just remeber to pull the sensor before closing the lid and it won't get stuck the next time you open it.

Anyone know how to fix the sensor''

The key method worked first time, and now its back to normal.:bannana:

Here's the post for ref and credit where its due
