hi people. i have recently bought a 99 V reg c200 esprit and i am led to believe that i am being screwed by her thirst! mpg usually doesnt make sense to me so ill talk money and miles. if i put in £20 of normal unleaded (@ 103.9/litre) and i just about get 70-80 miles out of it in london driving quite sensibly as well. does that sound about right or am i a victim of some sort of assault by my beautiful car? please tell me what sort of miles you guys get. thanks

thats not very good to be honest, my 2.3 supercharged engine gets about 120-130 on town driving from £20 106.9/litre even if i thrash it, i dont see less than 100miles out of it since i put £20 fairly often.

try a full tank test for a more accurate result:

fill the car up to max and reset the trip meter
drive the car until nearly empty
refill the car up to max
note the mileage and litres of fuel added

miles per litre * 4.54 = mpg

My C200 (99 T) generally gives me around 35 mpg but thats mainly motorway driving

25-30mpg from my old c200

.

could there be anything wrong? would replacing the fuel filter and giving it a service help? my service indicator is showing -730 miles or something like that. what does that mean?

It means your car expected to be serviced 730 miles ago! :)

Just done a calculation using your figures, comes out at 17.8 miles per gallon. As has been said, you need to test using the full tank to full tank method. Iv just tested my C220, 31.5 mpg towing, 36.5 normal driving, & no,im not light footed, very pleased with that.

My old W202 C200 did 28 - 32 MPG initially and then 32 - 35 after a B service from Olly. Most my miles were motorway journeys of 50 - 100 miles - very few short journeys.
