Hi All, new to the forum, got myself a nice old 98 C240 down here in Australia. Unfortunately have a few electrical gremlins creeping in. It has had issues with the front power windows in the past, but I think this is due to moisture more than anything. But got in today and found the wipers, indicators, central locking, boot release, windows and not working. Starts & stops fine, all dash lights are good and no error codes. Thinking of disconnecting the battery and hoping a reset works, but a bit concerned it might cause issues with the EIS. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have moisture Down Under?
Thought there was only warm spring weather and hot summer days all year long?

About your car it could be a bad relay causing you electrical gremlins?

Hi, yeah, we get a spot of rain from time to time, nothing too concerning.
I disconnected the battery for 30 mins and then reconnected and all was OK - so I would assume it could be a relay, all the fuses were OK.
I will keep an eye on it and see where it goes from there.
Thanks for your reply.

Couple of possibilities for that one. Either the EIS itself is having a wobble (on our cars the EIS is the CAN gateway where messages are shared across the engine, chassis and body networks), or the front SAM/fusebox.

Best thing to do is to take your car to a garage and they will check for possible stored error codes.
Otherwise we will all second guess what the culprit is with your car.
Take it to a MB specialist not the dealership as their recently hired non experianced spring chicken mechanics mostly only know about new cars technology and nothing about real Mercedes cars like the w202.
