Whats the range on your remote ??

or what should it be ??

Mine only seems to work from a few feet - replaced batterys in remote but no change ??

Chris

Same with my W202. :(

Thats ok then ......... was thinking mine was faulty as the handbook states it works over a considerable range ????

50 meters with mine.
If you put the remote face on onto your jaw bone or head, then you can increase the range by at least 20 meters. Try it.

One of the wifes friends came round last night - C200 Espirit -

Her remote works from about 20ft !!!

any ideas why mine will only work from about 5 feet ?? (had new batteries)

Chris

Hi,
If your key is the 3 button (sometimes 2 button) electronic type it should have a range of approx. 40-50 metres, these keys operate on an RF and Infra-red signal, both signals will operate the remote central locking, if the central locking only operates at close range then the RF side isn,t working, this could be caused by a dodgy key (try the spare one will eliminate this one), there is a amplifier unit i believe fitted behind one of the side "C" Piller trims, i think it might double as the radio antenna amplifier though i could be wrong.

Mine works from about 20ft, unless you press it accidentally in which case it's about 300ft I think.

my c36 one worked from abt 10ft, tbh you dont need any more than that!

Thanks for the replys

its 3 button type

Same range with both keys so assume it must be the aerial or amplifier thing (or 2 faulty keys !!!!

anyone ever fixed this issue ??

thanks

chris

the sensor on the door is usually for the windows etc.... if u hold the lock button down when lockig the car, the windows automatically wind up... if u hold the unlock button when opening the car, the windows come down,..... although for this to activate, u hav to b fairly close to the car as can b dodgy from a distance.... but like i said this is what i have found on my W202 and my mums W203
