Hi all,

I wanted to check the vacuum lines before bolting the manifold back on as a quick test run revealed a very hard shift.

Problem is that I cant see any of the pipes or indeed the vacuum switch which looks to be attached to the IP?

Also I only have one white nylon pipe going to the box, none on the otherside of the box and the white pipe disappears into the wing amongst a wiring loom.

Any ideas whats, what

Well after some reading up on WIS it looks as though MB produced several variants of this box - not sure why putting in your chassis number doesnt bring up the box fitted to that car but it doesn't, instead you have five options.

The shift on my tranny looks to be 100% mechanical controlled by the cables located in the offside front panel under the bonnet -

Some of the cables were stiff so loosened up with lube and re-routed the main cable which has improved the shift a fair bit - will take out for a proper run once cleared the MOT :thumb:

You want to put your vin here. ??????? ????????? MB
the fifth entry down is the gearbox number which should identify which gearbox you have. The gearbox changes are controlled by the kickdown cable linked to the throttle linkage and a vacuum controller to sense engine load. Depends what was removed/changed when you removed the manifold??

Thanks Graham,

That returns the same info on the box that I have on WIS above.

Your description is helpful as it confirms my findings.

The engine has been rebuilt so head and sump were off along with associated gubbings - it seems a lot better but first chance for a proper run will be on its way for MOT :o
