w203 2.2L CDI
hello every one, first of all exuse me for my bad english.
i have a strange problem with starting the car, and it goes like this:

at the morning, the car starts just fine.
after the car is hot and is standing still for 1-2-3-4 hours, there are 2 problems:
first, when i isert the key, sometimes there is just no starter. the lights work and every thing, but there is no starter. after i play with it there is starter, but it crancks and cranck alot of time and nothing.
sometimes i need to to this for 5-6 times and meanwhile it just crancks.

so, the long crancking appear only when the engine is worm.
***when i turn the key and there is nothing, there is a sound of some relay i think from under the bonnet)

iv been at the dealer today, they connected the computer and said that my ECU is bad.. somehow i think that this is not all. they want to charge me for a new ECU alot of money, a just want to see if something else can couse this..l.
thanks.

Your English is great :-)

Could be a bad connection on the battery terminal combined with a faulty crank/cam position sensor.

Would sure work out a lot cheaper than a replacement ecu.

How did they diagnose the ecu at fault?

thanks ! :)

well they connected the computer to the car, and after 20 minutes he said that ny ECU is bad and not communicating well...

thats it

Do you know what sort of computer it was connected to?

Was it a generic OBD reader or was it a proper Mercedes Star diagnostics tool? It might help to know whether this was a Mercedes Specialist garage or one for all makes and models.

Were you given any error codes or were they simply unable to read your ECU?

that was a Mercedes Star diagnostics tool.
and all they said is that the ECU is faulty, and needs to be send to repair.
