I have a Mercedes W203 2002 which last year had a leaking injector seal for some time and whenever I used the AC/blower it would pump an awful burning fuel smell into the car. After having the injector re-seated, the crap cleaned off the engine and the pollen filter replaced the smell went away.
The same issue occurred earlier this year with another injector so the same action was taken, but this time the smell has not gone. I have also tried a spray type AC cleaner which evidently masked the problem for only a short time.
I suspect the AC system is saturated in diesel fumes? In any case, the car will be for sale very soon and I was wondering if there is something else I should look for/could do to permanently get rid of the smell?
